The Shack - William P. Young

June 1st, 2009

Mackenzie Allen Philips’ youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change Mack’s world forever. In a world where religion seems to grow increasingly irrelevant The Shack wrestles with the timeless question, “Where is God in a world so filled with unspeakable pain?” The answers Mack gets will astound you and perhaps transform you as much as it did him. You’ll want everyone you know to read this book!

The Lost Symbol - Dan Brown

May 30th, 2009

Dan Brown’s new novel, the eagerly awaited follow-up to his #1 international phenomenon, The Da Vinci Code, which was the bestselling hardcover adult novel of all time, will be published on September 15, 2009.

The Lost Symbol will once again feature Dan Brown’s unforgettable protagonist, Robert Langdon.

The Lost Symbol  is a brilliant and compelling thriller. Dan Brown’s prodigious talent for storytelling, infused with history, codes and intrigue, is on full display in this new book. This is one of the most anticipated publications in recent history, and it was well worth the wait,” said Sonny Mehta, Chairman and Editor in Chief of the Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group.

Brown’s longtime editor, Jason Kaufman, Vice President and Executive Editor at Doubleday said, “Nothing ever is as it first appears in a Dan Brown novel. This book’s narrative takes place in a twelve-hour period, and from the first page, Dan’s readers will feel the thrill of discovery as they follow Robert Langdon through a masterful and unexpected new landscape. The Lost Symbol is full of surprises.”

“This novel has been a strange and wonderful journey,” said Brown. “Weaving five years of research into the story’s twelve-hour timeframe was an exhilarating challenge. Robert Langdon’s life clearly moves a lot faster than mine.”

Time to Start Shopping for Christmas

May 29th, 2009

With the economy what it is, make things easier for yourself at Christmas this year by shopping early.  I’ll be working hard this year to bring you the best deals I can find, organized in a way to make shopping easier for your budget.

Speaking of budget, it’s a great idea to start thinking of what you want to spend total for Christmas 2009 and then break that down into weekly or monthly amounts so that you don’t feel the crunch at the end of the year.  Help yourself avoid the tempation to throw everything on a credit card and then spend the next five months of 2010 paying for it with exorbitant interest rates.  A little planning now can go a long way towards making Christmas a happy stress-free holiday without the financial setback.

Check us out often over the next months for the best deals and reviews.  I’ll also be reporting on some of my favorite charities since many of you like to give at this time of year or give on someone else’s behalf as your present.

Most of all, don’t forget to give the gift of yourself.  There is nothing on anyone’s gift list that can replace your love, support and friendship.  I hope you have a wonderful Christmas season this year.

Thank You for 2008

December 30th, 2008

As the year comes to a close, I want to say thank you for coming to my site and taking a look at all of the wonderful gifts out there.  I know 2008 was a rough year for many, as the gifts under $25 were very popular hits.  Here’s hoping that 2009 will be a turnaround for the economy and the country.  Remember to keep the Christmas spirit all year through.
